Seattle’s Ravenna Blvd offers a cute christmas detour from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shoppers. The houses on this small street get together each year, pick a theme and decorate their houses and the center of a round-about. The tradition was first adopted in the 1940’s and continues to thrive all these years later.

Last night I went to Candy Cane Lane for the first time. I am a tad ashamed to confess that it has taken me this long to discover this Christmas wonder. The houses were adorable and you could feel the collective neighborhood Christmas spirit. While adorable, the adventure was short lived. It look perhaps five minutes max to wonder through on foot. You can drive through but traffic crawls and it is difficult to take pictures.

If you live nearby I highly recommend visiting. However, if you live out of the city, perhaps make other plans along with visiting Candy Cane Lane. The event runs through December 31st. The surrounding neighborhoods also decorate just as elaborately so why not plan a Seattle Christmas adventure?
